We all know and adore Physician’s Formula products. They are hypoallergenic, gluten free, non-comedogenic, and paraben free. Not only are their products dermatologist approved, but the company has been really upping their game with adorable packaging and beautiful motifs on their blushes, bronzers and other face powders. And as a woman, who isn’t a sucker for pretty packaging, right?
The Argan Oil Hype
Their new Argan Wear Ultra-Nourishing Argan Oil Bronzer in the darkest shade named “Bronzer” is the perfect example. Found in most drugstores such as Shoppers Drug Mart, Walmarts and Targets, this product retails at 19.99$ CDN. Infused with 100% pure argan oil, this product promises to deliver a sunlit glow and improves skin’s brightness, tone, texture and elasticity, all wrapped up in a pretty exotic packaging reminiscent of Morocco’s miracle ingredient that is argan oil. Argan oil has been known for its multiple uses and has been used by women for centuries to keep their skin looking healthy and youthful. Over the current years, companies have been using it to develop their marketing strategies. Rimmel has recently put out a new mascara infused with argan oil to condition lashes and keep them supple and soft and Josie Maran has an entire line of argan-oil-based skincare products.
As with all Physician’s Formula, this product comes with a brush and a small mirror enclosed in a hidden compartment underneath the bronzing powder. The geometric vegetal design is reminiscent of Moroccan art and hence functions towards illustrating the exotic feel of the product.
Ok, so let’s get to the point, a lot of complaints on social media about this bronzer have been that the gold motif is just overspray and that the product has a strong perfume smell to it. My counter is that many of Physician’s Formula products have that decorative overspray to them, including their famous nude wear blush, so this isn’t anything new and it didn’t really bother me. Once I broke through the last of the gold overspray on the Argan Wear bronzer, I found it to consistently deliver a golden-tinted application and I have been using this product for over a week by now. Here are two swatches, the one on the top was swatched with the golden overspray and the bottom, without. Let’s be frank here, except for a slight difference, can we say that they look pretty much the same?
As for the smell, I actually really enjoy the perfume they incorporated into the product. It reminds me of, wait for it… argan oil! The perfume is only present upon application of the product and just adds to the sensory experience of the bronzer. It does not linger afterwards. I really enjoy the goldish hue of the product, however I find that it does not last very long on the skin. I picked this up in the darkest shade, knowing that Physician’s Formula bronzing products are usually very light, even on fair skin tones. So if you want your product to show up a bit more when contouring, the trick is layering. However, this product can be amazing if dusted lightly all over with a large kabuki brush and really does give off a beautiful golden glow.
WHAT I LOVE
-I really enjoy the packaging and exotic feel of this product.
-The perfume of argan oil is enjoyable and does not linger.
-The product remains a consistent goldish hue even after the over spray is brushed off.
-The product can be carried on the go because of the cute little brush and mirror that come with it.
WHAT I WOULD LIKE
-Physician’s Formula should really start putting out darker shades of bronzer for both light and darker skin tones.
-I wish the product would have longer wear time.
-A lower price tag and/or more deals on Physician’s Formula products! Some products, such as this one, came with a 9$-8$ mail-in-rebate. This means by filling out a form from their site and mailing it to the company, you should receive a coupon for your next purchase. This is fun, but time-consuming. We all know these products are a bit pricier than a lot of drugstore brands because of their hypoallergenic qualities, but give us some more coupons or sales Physician’s Formula!
Overall, I am enjoying Physician’s Formula Argan Wear Ultra-Nourishing Argan Oil Bronzer in the shade Bronzer as a product and am looking forward to purchasing a blush from their argan wear line as well as their new City Glow Daily Defense Bronzer (sooo pretty).
Wishing you a beauty-full day!
